As the biggest surprise from Star Citizen in Alpha 4.1, Drake Golem sets a new standard for the industrial ships in the game, delivering an extremely budget-friendly vessel for mining lovers that comes with a decent amount of storage space and a pretty compact design.

Star Citizen gives players the option to be cargo haulers and earn cash through deliveries. Here are the best cargo ships players can buy right now.

Drake Golem is now the cheapest industrial ship in Star Citizen, and it falls into the line of starter ships in the game, making it possible for every new player to begin the game as a miner without spending big.

Drake Golem can be acquired from the Pledge Store for $60, but the Warbond deal makes it available for $55. The Warbond edition offers lifetime insurance, while the normal version only comes with a 6-month insurance. This is amazing value for a mining ship, as prior to this, the most viable mining option was Misc Prospector for $150.

There is already a Game Package available for Drake Golem for those who want to join the Star Citizen universe for the first time. The actual pricing of the Game Package is $75, but it is available for $67 for a limited time as a Warbond offer.

The in-game price of the ship is yet to be known, as it will take two or more patch cycles to see Drake Golem available for in-game currency, but we don’t expect it to be any higher than 2 million aUEC.

Golem releases with three distinct paints other than its default paint. Players can acquire all the paints in one pack for $11.

The first thing to note about Drake Golem is the fact that it comes with a bespoke mining head. This means the players will not be able to change the mining head and swap it for something else, unlike other mining ships like Prospector or Mole.

However, don’t take it as a pure disappointment, because Golem’s unique Pitman mining head is just as strong as Helix-1, which is the most powerful size-1 mining head available in Star Citizen. So, players who aim for a power-based mining build will not lose much value with Golem over Prospector.

Additionally, the size-1 bespoke mining head comes with 2 module slots to allow for performance customization. Golem also delivers 32 SCU of ore capacity that comes in two size-16 ore pods, which can be easily detached from the underbelly of the ship. This is the same amount of capacity that a Misc Prospector offers.

Going over the ship’s firepower, Golem comes with 2x size-1 weapons that don’t pack a strong punch, to be honest, but they are still better than nothing. The ship also features 2x size-1 missile racks.

Ships That Drake Golem Fit In

What makes Golem an ideal pick for the orgs or players with giant carriers is the ship’s small size. Golem can easily fit inside RSI Polaris, Hercules C2, and Hercules M2. It can also fit inside an 890 Jump with the landing gear retracted, but it will be a rough one.
