Compared to names like Magic: The Gathering and Yu-Gi-Oh!, Disney Lorcana is a newer TCG with fewer cards under its belt. That means that, on the whole, it’s managed to avoid large balance problems even as it releases new sets.

When you wish upon a card, your dreams (may) come true!
However, there have been times where designer Ravensburger has had to step in and make some changes for the health of the game. This includes both erratas and full bannings, and knowing which cards are affected by either will avoid any embarrassing situations at your next event.
What Are Erratas?
Erratas are a softer way of balancing a card than banning it. With erratas, the text written on the card is disregarded, and text from an official rules source is used in its place. This means cards can be updated over time, though it does have the downside of cards no longer doing exactly what they read.
Most errata’d cards came in the second print run of The First Chapter, where early cards were accidentally first printed with incorrect rules text. These were a correction to the intended mechanics, rather than outright changing what the card does for balance purposes.
The bigger errata came with Shimmering Skies, when Bucky, Squirrel Squeak Tutor received an errata to increase its cost, remove ward, and require you to shift Floodborns into play to trigger it, to reduce its prevalence in Discard decks. The result was Bucky very rarely sees play now.

What Are Bannings?
Bannings are the more extreme action taken to correct the meta of Lorcana. Any card that has been banned can’t be played, effectively stripping them from the game.
You can still play these cards casually, and in limited games of the sets they’re in. They are only banned in Constructed, the primary way of playing in stores and at events.
Bannings are incredibly rare, with the first not coming until almost two years into Lorcana. The first banned cards were Hiram Flaversham, Toymaker and Fortisphere, in an attempt to cut down on the strength of Item decks at competitive levels.
Cards that are banned may always be unbanned as new potential answers to problem cards are printed, however this has not yet happened.
