New Oblivion Remastered Players Are Now Changing Loyalties In The Skyrim Civil War

Summary

  • Oblivion Remaster players are rethinking their support for Skyrim’s Stormcloaks over the Empire.
  • The noble actions of Imperial Guards in Oblivion are making them see the benefits of a united kingdom.
  • The Thalmor are still the worst.

Oblivion Remastered has shaken the world of Skyrim fans. They have realised that despite Skyrim being more popular, Oblivion is the better game. The deep and complex magic system, the level scaling, and even the lack of popular mechanics from Skyrim have worked in Oblivion’s favour.

Skyrim may be great, but Oblivion still has more going for it.

However, not only have they realised that it is the better game, but it has also made them rethink their decisions in Skyrim. One of the biggest decisions you take in Skyrim is choosing between the Stormcloaks and the Imperial Legion. It seems after spending some time in Cyrodiil, fans have realised that they may have chosen the wrong side.

Pick Your Allies More Carefully

Over on the Oblivion subreddit, one player who experienced the game for the first time via the remaster has had a change of heart. “I immediately supported the Stormcloaks due to the classic “rebellions against supposed fascism cliche. However, after many playthroughs I became more of a sympathizer for the Empire as to prepare it for the next Great War,” they explained. “Interestingly, after playing the Oblivion remaster, I noticed how noble, loyal and motivated the Empire’s soldiers and citizens are.”

Their mind was changed after a group of Imperial Guards came by to help in Kvatch. A moment that all fans love. “While I recognize the Empire in Skyrim (Mede) is not the same as the Septim Empire, it’s nice to see what was and how it could translate to what could be,” they continued.” Oblivion exemplifies what civilization has to offer under a unified society that further reinforces my decision for the civil war in Skyrim.”

However, not everyone agreed with this explanation. “Like with every faction there is both good and bad,” said one comment. The entire point of the civil war story is to show neither are wholly good nor are they wholly bad. The stated true villains are the Thalmor as they are instigating the war and stirring the shit between the two armies.”

The important thing is, we all know that the Thalmor are not to be trusted.
