Assassin’s Creed Shadows Could Be Coming To The Switch 2

Share

  • The Switch 2 can clearly handle third-party games far better than the original Switch.
  • It might be getting a true test of that statement in the future, though, as PEGI has listed Assassin’s Creed Shadows for the console.
  • It could just be a mistake or an error with the listing, but it’d be very impressive if it’s true.

A PEGI age rating listing seems to have suggested that Assassin’s Creed Shadows could end up being ported to the Nintendo Switch 2 in the near future.

Although the Switch 2 and Nintendo itself have been faced with a fair amount of backlash ever since the console and its surprisingly high price point were revealed last month, there have been some obvious upsides. The biggest of them all is that the Switch’s successor is far more powerful than the original and seems capable of running a lot of third-party games with decent quality.

Exploration was the smallest part of Assassin’s Creed, and now it’s all it is.

So far, we’ve seen games like Cyberpunk 2077, Elden Ring, and even Final Fantasy 7 Remake all confirmed to be ported over to the Switch 2, which suggests that it’s capable of running a lot more than we all expected considering how the original Switch fared. Now it seems like nearly every game is a possibility, something that’s just been compounded by an age rating listing.

Take It With A Hidden Grain Of Salt For Now

The PEGI age rating site showing Assassin's Creed Shadows on Switch 2.

As pointed out by ResetEra user –R, the PEGI age-rating website was recently updated to add a new platform to the Assassin’s Creed Shadows listing – the Nintendo Switch 2. That’s right, if you go on the PEGI homepage right now, one of the “most-searched games” on the site is Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which strangely has the Switch 2 listed as a console.

The listing doesn’t appear if you go on the dedicated Assassin’s Creed Shadows page itself, but it’s there clear as day when you look at the consoles listed for Shadows on the homepage. The listing hasn’t appeared anywhere else on age-rating websites for other regions, so it’s not clear how reliable it is right now.

There’s a possibility that it’s just a mistake that’s been made by PEGI, or the website has glitched somehow and accidentally added the Switch 2 as a platform for Assassin’s Creed Shadows. On the other hand, the Switch 2 does seem like it might be able to run Assassin’s Creed Shadows with enough optimisation, so it’s possible that it’s legitimate and happening.

Either way, nothing has been announced by Ubisoft so far when it comes to Shadows being ported to other consoles, so it’s best to take it all with a pinch of salt right now. If true, it’d be rather impressive of the Switch 2, especially considering how Shadows has been labelled as one of the best showcases of the PS5 Pro, a console that’s known for its power.
