Part of what makes Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 so impressive is the amount of customization available. Whether it’s Henry’s look or his build, there are plenty of details you can tweak to your preference.

Hardcore Mode can be a tough and frustrating experience in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. Check out some tips to make your journey a bit better.
The Brushes With Death expansion gives you another option to add to the mix, and perhaps the most absurd. Soon after making Voyta’s acquaintance, the painter will customize your shield (which you’ll rarely see while actually playing), choosing from a selection of designs you unlock by completing quests. In spite of how impractical this inclusion is, Warhorse have included some fantastic designs, so which are the best?
10
Cardinal’s Hat
Religion
One of the most likeable characters you’ll get to know throughout Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is the priest Godwin. Throughout different sections of the campaign, you’ll take control of the older man, and get to see Bohemia from his perspective.
Arguably one of the most interesting Godwin quests is when he has to pretend to be a cardinal to create a distraction while other characters steal from the Italian Court. The whole process of stealing the real cardinal’s outfit, and Godwin having to remember Latin, makes it a highlight. If you loved the quest, you can reference it with the Cardinal’s Hat shield design.
9
Bard
Craft
The amount of side content available throughout Henry’s second adventure is staggering, and that’s the main reason why the story can last anywhere between 25 and 125 hours. One quest you can find relatively early on is with the bards hanging out in Upper Zhelejov.
Michael and George will send Henry all around the Trosky region to help them with seemingly meaningless tasks, and instead of an actually useful reward, Henry will be congratulated with a song performed in his honour. ‘Henry, Our Hero Henry’ would surely top charts if released today, but if you want to display Henry’s love for the pair of musicians, you can represent them with the Bard shield design.
8
Good Boy
Nature
Henry rarely has much help in the battles you’ll take part in throughout Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, and even if there are NPCs on your side, they’re usually not actually that helpful. However, one companion you can trust to almost always have Henry’s back is Mutt.

The charming dog will re-join Henry’s side as soon as you track him down in Trosky, and you can make him even more powerful by leveling up the Houndmaster skill. If you love Mutt just as much as Henry does, you can choose the Good Boy shield pattern, featuring the dog himself posing with a fish.
7
Leipa Crest
Historical
Even though Henry starts the first Kingdom Come: Deliverance at a pretty low social standing, throughout his two adventures he’ll make the acquaintance of plenty of nobles. Some of the most important to his story are Hans Capon and his uncle Hanush.
While Hanush doesn’t get as much screen time in the second game, he’ll appear at the end alongside Henry to help save Hans and the other captives in Suchdol. If you keep an eye out during this cutscene, you might notice the Leipa crest on Hanush’s shield, and if you want the same design, Voyta can add it to yours.
6
Skull Gules
Craft
Even though you don’t have to complete Voyta’s (very extensive) quest line in Brushes With Death to unlock shield painting, it’s recommended to do as many of his missions as possible so you can unlock all the designs he offers for your shield.
Arguably the most iconic moments from this quest line involve Voyta’s conversations with his tastefully decorated skull. It’s fitting then, that one of the last designs you unlock from him is a design based on his skull. After you finish Voyta’s last quest, make sure to check back on him to choose the gothic design for your shield.
5
Fountain Gules
Craft
There are plenty of mysteries in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, but perhaps the most enigmatic sits smack in the middle of Kuttenberg. It seems like every time you get even slightly within the vicinity of the central fountain in the main square, you’ll get the option for Henry to look at the contraption so he can comment on it, but then no follow-up.
Henry’s persistent fascination has become a bit of a running joke, and Warhorse Studios seem to be more than aware of this. Compared to some of the more traditional designs included as shield paintings, it feels like the Fountain Gules pattern is a direct reference to Henry’s insatiable curiosity.
4
Light Basilisk
Nature
Completing the Brushes With Death quest line can feel like quite a marathon, especially if you do all the fetch quests (of which there are many) back to back. However, one of the first definitely stands out as the most inventive.

To create a particularly potent paint, Voyta tasks Henry with creating a Basilisk’s egg, of which he can use the yolk to mix up the paint he desires. Henry is sent all around Trosky to fetch a particular egg and get a frog to sit on it to ‘transform’ the egg, and even if it looks slightly different, Henry isn’t exactly convinced of its authenticity. While you never get to meet a Basilisk, Voyta will happily paint one on your shield after you finish this task for him.
3
Skalitz Crest
Historical
While you never get to visit the location during the sequel, Henry’s hometown of Skalitz is an important place in the original Kingdom Come: Deliverance, and Henry’s memories of its destruction still haunt him.
In spite of this, Henry is still shown to display an impressive level of pride in his origins, and will happily tell anyone about his history in Skalitz. While the town is still in ruins, Henry can represent his hometown with the stunning Skalitz Crest design for his shield.
2
Guard Hare
Nature
Henry only has one companion who truly follows him everywhere. There are some locations where even Mutt won’t be able to join him, and Hans spends too much time being kidnapped, but the signal hare will always pop up when Henry needs it most.
The adorable creature is perhaps the most useful feature in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, showing up to let Henry know when people have spotted him and if they want to fight. Perhaps the most iconic pose for the Hare is when a guard spots Henry, and this design is available for your shield in the Nature section.
1
Swords In Saltire
Craft
If you went into Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 looking for an abundance of romance content, you might be left thinking it’s a little lacking. Most romances are only found in temporary quests, and you don’t have much of a chance to see your romantic partners after the final scene, but Warhorse definitely has a favourite.
Hans has by far the most screen time during the main story, and because of this, his romance is one of the best developed. On top of this, you can go and visit him at Devil’s Den whenever you like… where he and Henry share a room. If you chose to romance Hans, and want a more personal way of repping him besides the Leipa Crest, then the Swords In Saltire design is likely a nod to the cutaway of the intersecting swords shown in his final romance scene.
