EA has a couple of different superhero projects in the works at the moment, with both Iron Man and Black Panther getting their own respective games. We haven’t heard much about either ever since they were casually announced, but while we have heard a few details about Iron Man, it seems like there’s a reason why we haven’t heard much about Black Panther.
That’s because EA has decided to scrap the project entirely, despite setting up a whole studio just for its development. Cliffhanger Games was just formed in 2023, and included some developers that worked on Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, but has now been shut down alongside the cancelation of its debut Black Panther title.

According to IGN, which broke the news about the cancelation, EA Entertainment president Laura Miele sent an internal email to staff claiming that the reason for the game’s cancelation and closure of Cliffhanger was to “sharpen our focus and put our creative energy behind the most significant growth opportunities.”
