Oblivion Remastered: Leyawiin Recommendation Quest Walkthrough
The female Wood Elf Dagail will ask you about the Seer’s Stone. Learn more about this item and how to find it in Leyawiin in Oblivion Remastered.
As your renown and prowess in the guild becomes more apparent, your next task will ask far more of you than any before. You will be thrust into your most dangerous challenge yet. Racing against the clock, your skills will determine not only the fate of one important to the Arcane University but perhaps all those of the guild and of Tamriel at large.
How To Begin The Liberation Or Apprehension Quest
To be eligible for this quest, you must have completed all four tasks with Raminus Polus and ascended to the Magician rank. The four tasks to complete are:
- The Mages’ Staff
- Ulterior Motives
- Vahtacen’s Secret
- Necromancer’s Moon
With these prerequisites complete, you will be able to accept this quest from Archmage Traven.
He’ll direct you to rescue Mucianus Allias from the ruins of Nenyond Twyll from the forces of the university’s own battlemages.
Sometimes, the entrance to the Archmage Council chambers is marked as trespassing. However, ignoring this appears to have no consequence. Interact with the teleporter without fearing you’ll be breaking the law.
How To Save Mucianus Allias
Nenyond Twyll is a set of Ayleid Ruins south of the Imperial City, 500 steps west of Hircine’s Shrine and 200 steps west of Faregyl Inn.
Your entry will be a door at the bottom of a marble structure with a spiral staircase going downward.
When you enter, a battlemage named Fithragaer will ask what you’re doing there. He’ll tell you he’s the only battlemage left. When he tells you to follow him, he’ll immediately rush off.
Sprinting after him, you can see that he’ll trigger a floor trap that kills him. You’ll have to jump around the platform on the edges to avoid meeting the same fate.
On the other end, there should be a skeleton enemy and a necromancer further down. Defeat them both before progressing further into the dungeon.
Fithragaer is supposed to die on the floor trap, but he often runs so fast that he misses it entirely. You can attempt to keep him alive afterward, but he is usually killed in a single blow by any enemy due to his intended condition. It is not worth it to save Fithragaer, and may lead to unknown errors if he survives.
In the next room, there will be two necromancer enemies. We recommend fighting each in single combat to avoid becoming overwhelmed by both and their conjurations.
When they are both gone, loot them both before heading into the next hallway to dispatch a skeletal guardian.
There are several chests with helpful potions in the hallway area with the skeleton. We recommend looting them all.
Continuing down into the Riellesel level, you’ll immediately see an elven woman standing in the doorway ahead. Talk with Mariette Rielle to learn of Mucianus’s fate.
You’ll have to fight Mariette after you’re finished speaking.
Defeat her quickly to avoid being swarmed by her summons and the skeleton at the bottom of the stairwell.
In the room beyond, there are several enemies:
- One skeleton
- One zombie
- Three necromancers
After defeating them all, you should be on the north side of the bridge. Facing the north wall, you can open a door forward by pressing a block on the wall to the left.
Be careful, however. Opening the door will reveal a zombie lumbering on the other side.
This zombie is no normal zombie, but Mucianus Allias himself. There’s nothing you can do to save him, so put him out of his misery.
Now, you can leave the ruins and return to the Arcane University to report his grim fate.
Before leaving, be sure to loot the chest in the back room.
When you return to the Archmage, inform him of the events at the ruins. This will end this quest, leaving you with no rewards except what you looted at the ruins.
However, completing this quest will allow you to speak with Raminus Polus to Advance into the Warlock rank.
