Stellar Blade 2 Expected To Release Next Year

Summary

  • An internal presentation suggests Stellar Blade 2 will be released next year.
  • This is a quick turnaround for a sequel.
  • Shift Up is also working on something called Project Witches.

We’re still a couple of weeks from Stellar Blade’s release on PC, but developer Shift Up appears to be well underway developing the game’s sequel.

According to an internal presentation from May 16, Shift Up expects to release a sequel to Stellar Blade before 2027 (nice spot, Insider Gaming).

On the nineteenth slide of the presentation, which is available to view here, Shift Up’s plans for Stellar Blade, Goddess of Victory: Nikke and “Project Witches” are laid out on a bar graph. While the developer is immediately concerned with Goddess of Victory: Nikke, a sequel for Stellar Blade appears to be planned for release before 2027.

Although this doesn’t preclude the game from being released this year, it seems unlikely that Shift Up would’ve created a sequel in such an exceptionally short timeframe.

Even 2026 is a surprisingly quick turnaround for the action-adventure game, considering Stellar Blade released during the middle of last year, exactly one year before the game’s PC release date, June 11.

As this is an internal presentation and not something solely intended for public use, there’s no guarantee that these timelines are set in stone at Shift Up. There’s always the possibility that the release of Stellar Blade 2 will be pushed into 2027 or beyond.

The team also appears to be working on something called Project Witches. Given that “witch” usually refers to women, and given Shift Up’s proclivity for focusing on sexualised women in its games, you can probably intuit that Project Witches is another title along the lines of Goddess of Victory: Nikke and Stellar Blade.

Stellar Blade received moderately good reviews at release, holding an 82 average critic score on OpenCritic. Our own editor-in-chief, Stacey Henley, reviewed the game last year and said the game is “competent and occasionally interesting with combat as unique and rewarding as it is repetitive and frustrating,” in her 3.5/5 review.
