Many unusual tasks await you in Oblivion Remastered’s multitude of side quests, such as tracking down bottles of rare wine for a collector. Nerussa is an innkeeper at the Wawnet Inn, and she collects a rare vintage bottle called Shadowbanish Wine, which will appear in sets of two in select forts across Cyrodiil, even before meeting Nerussa.

These are the best rings to keep in your inventory.
While it’s possible to begin this quest and have it added to your journal before ever meeting Nerussa, she’s extremely close to the opening area of the game, near the Imperial City. Whether you choose to seek out Nerussa soon after emerging from the sewers or hold off, A Venerable Vintage offers a helpful reward.
How To Start A Venerable Vintage
To begin a Venerable Vintage, you’ll first need to find Nerussa, who manages the Wawnet Inn to the west of the Imperial City, on the western edge of Weye.
Enter the Wawnet Inn and speak to Nerussa, then ask her about the ‘Wine’ topic, and she’ll explain that she needs you to collect a rare wine for her called Shadowbanish Wine, beginning A Venerable Vintage.
You can also complete the Caught In The Hunt, quest simultaneously, so speak to Nerussa before or after returning from Fort Grief.
Where To Find Shadowbanish Wine
Nerussa sends you off to find the wine at forts around Cyrodiil and asks you to procure six bottles for her. You can do this in one of two ways:
- Get two bottles from three separate chests across multiple forts
- Find one fort’s chest and return to it three times, as each chest respawns the contents, which always contain two bottles of Shadowbanish Wine
The easiest way to do this is to hit one fort and wait a week in between each visit to ensure the bottles have enough time to respawn. However, if you want to visit different forts to find each bottle, here is a full list of the Shadowbanish Wine locations:
- Fort Aurus
- Fort Carmala
- Fort Dirich
- Fort Grief
- Fort Irony
- Fort Magia
- Fort Scinia
- Fort Vlastrus
Fort Grief and Fort Dirich are the quickest forts to get wine from, as the former is also a part of the aforementioned Caught In The Hunt quest.
- Fort Dirich’s Shadowbanish Wine is inside a wooden chest in the first room to the south room with a coffin and a wraith.
- Fort Grief’s Shadowbanish Wine is above the area where you meet Aleron during Caught In The Hunt, which you’ll need to parkour over to.
- Frostcrag Spire’s Shadowbanish Wine is also easy to find. Head into the Vault area and check the Wine rack in the eastern corner of the room. On top of the rack, you’ll find a lone bottle of Shadowbanish Wine.
What Rewards Do You Get From A Venerable Vintage?
After you’ve collected six bottles of Shadowbanish Wine, return to Nerussa, who will be delighted to see you.
Once you speak to Nerussa and agree to hand over your six bottles of Shadowbanish Wine, she’ll reward you with 1,000 gold for your troubles.
If you bring her more than six, every additional bottle will net you 100 more gold for the effort.
